On September 14th and 15th, we will be attending the 7th International Seminar on Interculturality: Truth, Justice, and Intercultural Dialogue for Reconciliation, held at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Cali, Colombia.
Representing Aldana Foundation, our President, Alan Aldana, will participate as a guest panelist. Mr. Aldana previously participated in the seminar "Victims' Agreement: Impunity in Colombia?" hosted by the same institution.
The Seminar: A space to reflect on and promote values for peace within the Colombian context.
With the goal of creating a space for knowledge, reflection, intercultural dialogue and debate regarding the fifth point of the "Final Agreement to End the Armed Conflict and Build a Stable and Lasting Peace" the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali and its Institute of Intercultural Studies(IEI) invite you to the VII International Seminar on Interculturality: Truth, Justice, and Intercultural Dialogue for Reconciliation.
Over the two days of the event, participants will identify challenges and opportunities from the territories regarding the themes of truth, justice, and intercultural dialogue as core pillars for promoting reconciliation. Furthermore, it will be an ideal venue to foster the implementation of the Agreement from the perspective of rural communities and victims.
International guests attending the seminar include: Baltasar Garzón, judge and president of FIBGAR; Almudena Bernabeu, co-founder and director of Guernica 37 International Justice Chambers; Manuel Ollé Sesé; José Ricardo de Prada; Alan Aldana of Fundación Aldana; Carmen Beramendi of FLACSO (Uruguay); and Pablo Vommaro.
Guests from Colombia include: Óscar Naranjo Trujillo, Vice President of the Republic; María Camila Moreno, director of the ICTJ Colombia office; César Rodríguez, director of DEJUSTICIA; Luis Guillermo Sarasa Gallego S.J., Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana; Judith Maldonado Mojica, spokesperson for "Voces de Paz"; Jorge Enrique González; Leyner Palacios, representative of the Committee for the Rights of Victims of Bojayá; Bertha Lucía Fries, victim of the El Nogal attack (focused on reconciliation through values); and Ernesto Perafán.
On the morning of the first day, there will be an overview of the peace process with the FARC-EP (What has been achieved and what remains to be implemented?). Subsequently, as the day's central theme, the seminar will delve into the Integral System of Truth, Justice, Reparation, and Non-Repetition (SIVJRNR), emphasizing truth and justice as the primary mechanisms for achieving reconciliation. During the second day, national reconciliation experiences will be showcased, and the topic of Intercultural Dialogue for reconciliation will be addressed.
At 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 14th, Alan Aldana will participate as a panelist in the session: "Transitional Systems for Peace. Contributions to Reconciliation." The panel will seek to address questions such as: What is Transitional Justice? What is the primary role of victims in the SIVJRNR? and What is the role of civil society organizations in the SIVJRNR?, among others.
