Human rights know no borders. That is why the Aldana Foundation takes part in national and international human rights initiatives that provide pro bono legal assistance, protect people in vulnerable situations and strengthen the rule of law.

Our international presence reflects a simple conviction: defending rights requires being where decisions are made. We engage with multilateral organizations, international courts and academic forums, bringing legal expertise, technical proposals and, above all, a deeply human perspective.

2026 — Geneva, Switzerland · United Nations

Towards an International Treaty on the Human Rights of Older Persons

The Aldana Foundation participated in the organizational session of the United Nations Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) mandated to draft a future international treaty on the human rights of older persons. There, the Foundation presented legal proposals to strengthen their protection.

Impact: Contributing legal expertise to a historic treaty-making process, with a firm commitment to future sessions.

2024 — Caracas, Venezuela

Donation of the Houses of Jesus and Mary

The Foundation donated two properties, now known as the Houses of Jesus and Mary, where the Missionaries of Mercy have created a space devoted to learning, faith and human dignity. Each day, children and older persons receive meals, educational activities, catechesis and spiritual support.

Impact: Creating a permanent community space that offers long-term support to two of society’s most vulnerable generations.

2019 — Madrid, Spain

Academic Lecture on Money Laundering and Cryptocurrencies

The Foundation delivered a guest lecture on money laundering and cryptocurrencies within an academic program on economic criminal law organized by the Foundation of the Complutense University of Madrid.

Impact: Sharing specialized legal knowledge with the academic community to help prevent economic crime.

Truth, Justice and Intercultural Dialogue for Reconciliation

The Foundation was invited to speak at the International Seminar on Interculturality, Truth, Justice and Intercultural Dialogue for Reconciliation, where it addressed transitional justice.

Impact: Offering a legal perspective in a regional dialogue on reconciliation.

Before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights

The Foundation took part in a public hearing before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights on a request for an advisory opinion concerning diplomatic and territorial asylum.

Impact: Engaging directly with the highest human rights court in the Americas.
